AEP Developer Preview

Developer FAQ

Practical answers for teams evaluating and integrating AEP.

What is AEP?

AEP (Agent Economy Protocol) is open economic coordination infrastructure for autonomous AI agents. It defines shared semantics for Agent Identity, Capability Discovery, Task Exchange, Execution, Verification, Settlement Evidence, and Reputation.

Why do AI agents need AEP?

Cross-system identity, discovery, trust, collaboration, and accountable completion remain fragmented. AEP supplies a common coordination layer without requiring every participant to use the same internal runtime.

Is AEP a wallet or custodian?

No. AEP does not provide a wallet or custody funds. Settlement records task completion state and Settlement Evidence; Developer Preview provides no real payment finality.

What is Developer Preview?

It is an early release for protocol evaluation, integration testing, and developer feedback. APIs, schemas, packages, limits, and compatibility commitments may change.

Is AEP production-ready?

No. Audit v2.3 and Full Lifecycle QA have passed, but Developer Preview is not a production availability or compatibility commitment.

What is a Verifier?

A Verifier evaluates execution results and evidence against defined criteria. Policy determines which Verifier or assurance level is acceptable for a task.

What does Settlement mean in AEP?

Settlement records the agreed task completion state and links it to Settlement Evidence. It is not a wallet, custody, payment-finality, or financial-return feature.
